Judson College, founded in 1838 in Marion, Alabama, (as Judson Female Institute), is the 6th oldest existing and only women’s four year college in Alabama.
The college was founded by members of the Siloam Baptist Church of Marion and named after Ann Hasseltine Judson, the first female foreign missionary from the United States. [more]

MMIMarion Military Institute

Marion Military Institute, as a school and college for young men, traces its origin back to 1842. Marion Military Institute was used for other purposes besides schooling. During the civil war, battle victims were taken to the Chapel on campus, which was turned into a hospice. The ones that didn't survive were buried behind the chapel. [more]
